Hey Ifrit’s Hookah Lounge fans,
In case you haven’t heard, and your probably haven’t since we just did, but on January 13, 2010, Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) and co-sponsor Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) introduced bill H.R. 4439 to congress to raise the federal pipe tobacco tax from $2.8311US per pound to $24.78US per pound and “To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to impose the same rate of tax on pipe tobacco as is imposed on roll-your-own tobacco.”
What this means is that they want to make the tax rate on pipe tobacco the same as roll-your-own cigarette tobacco, which would raise the excise taxes on a 250g about $12…so your favorite Tangiers would go from about $13 to $25. Starbuzz would go from $23 to $35. THIS DOESN’T INCLUDE RETAIL MARKUP. This increase will disproportionately affect hookah tobacco since we use five times as much tobacco in terms of excise tax as brier pipe smokers.
SO! We are asking a BIG favor of everyone. PLEASE spread the word and let your friends know. ALSO, please write your local Congress Rep.

Starting last week, we changed the hours at Ifrit’s Hookah Lounge. Were still open Monday through Thursday from 6pm til 12am. But now to help reach more customers and help satisfy you, we now open at 4pm on Friday and Saturday. We’ve also expanded our Happy Hour from 4pm til 7pm on Friday and Saturday. Beers are $2 during Happy Hour, otherwise their $3.
Also, in case you haven’t heard, our order of Tangiers came in! That means we now have all of our flavors in stock. Tangiers is made to order, so it is hard to get a hold of certain flavors from time to time, but with our direct connection to the owner of Tangiers we hope to never have this problem again.

we’d love to hear your feedback on how were doing. We’ve just passed the 4 month mark and so far we think were doing a great job. P.S. If you haven’t heard, Ifrit’s Hokah Lounge has applied for a BEER licence! We have our final meeting today, Monday December, 20th and were so sure we’ve got this in the bag that we’ve already ordered the beer! So keep checking for updates and we’ll provide you more info! Remember! Don’t drink and drive!
It’s getting cold outside folks and may of you have made comments about how the front couch area gets awfully cold, almost too cold to sit there. So, we’ve listened and made some changes. Our heating air duct now extends to the front to help heat up those front couches for you. No more will you freeze while you smoke that yummy hookah.
Also, just for your information, we now have ownership of the Ifrit’s Hookah Lounge Myspace page. It’s now run by an Ifrit’s employee who will be updating the site from time to time. If you not already a friend of ours, add us and become one! We’ll post updates with our specials, discounts and much much more! Don’t forget to tell your friends!

Big thanks to everyone who showed up for Rapid City’s First Annual Zombie Walk! We had a few dozen zombies show up to support the local “zombie scene” and they were all super scary! Marc Linn was there to record the whole thing and produced an awesome video that you can check out on our YouTube page! We had everything from Elvis zombies, Mt. Dew infested zombies and pitbull zombies! Next year will only be bigger and better! Also check out the online article from The Rapid City Journal.
On another note, we should be getting our shipment of Tangiers Lucid flavors in today. Many of you know that we lost our original shipment a few weeks ago when the Denver area got hit hard by the winter storm. Thanks for putting up with the fact we haven’t had Schnozzberry in for you all to smoke. We know you love it so! But don’t give up hope, it’ll be here!
