Hey Ifrit’s Hookah Lounge fans,

In case you haven’t heard, and your probably haven’t since we just did, but on January 13, 2010, Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) and co-sponsor Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) introduced bill H.R. 4439 to congress to raise the federal pipe tobacco tax from $2.8311US per pound to $24.78US per pound and “To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to impose the same rate of tax on pipe tobacco as is imposed on roll-your-own tobacco.”
What this means is that they want to make the tax rate on pipe tobacco the same as roll-your-own cigarette tobacco, which would raise the excise taxes on a 250g about $12…so your favorite Tangiers would go from about $13 to $25. Starbuzz would go from $23 to $35. THIS DOESN’T INCLUDE RETAIL MARKUP. This increase will disproportionately affect hookah tobacco since we use five times as much tobacco in terms of excise tax as brier pipe smokers.

SO! We are asking a BIG favor of everyone. PLEASE spread the word and let your friends know. ALSO, please write your local Congress Rep.

Starting last week, we changed the hours at Ifrit’s Hookah Lounge. Were still open Monday through Thursday from 6pm til 12am. But now to help reach more customers and help satisfy you, we now open at 4pm on Friday and Saturday. We’ve also expanded our Happy Hour from 4pm til 7pm on Friday and Saturday. Beers are $2 during Happy Hour, otherwise their $3.

Also, in case you haven’t heard, our order of Tangiers came in! That means we now have all of our flavors in stock. Tangiers is made to order, so it is hard to get a hold of certain flavors from time to time, but with our direct connection to the owner of Tangiers we hope to never have this problem again.
